I live in a zoo
Aug. 16th, 2004 01:18 pmDuring my dog-filled weekend, my 2 foot long ornery fish managed to jump out through the index card sized hole in the grid covering his tank, through the regular hinged tank lid, and onto the floor. Luckily, both dogs were so startled they ran the other way, while I said "shit shit shit" over and over, grabbed a clean towel, moved the grid cover with one hand and a wiggly fish in the other, and returned the bastard, minus several scales, to the tank. He looked really scary on the floor, as he managed to hold himself upright and charge my foot. I'm glad he's not as tough as Lepido's Fluffy. The fish seems fine, health-wise. I have now taped the lids closed with packing tape as a temporary measure. As soon as financially possible, I'll have to invest in a new setup with a wood canopy.

In cooking news, I'm participating in a vendor fair at Sun Microsystems in Burlington on Wednesday. I don't really know how much stuff to make, I just hope I don't run out. I had to buy a cash box and everything. I got a ton of little foil pie pans at a restaurant supply place. I now have an army of tiny pies!
